Winter Christmas Holiday Concert

WINTER CONCERTS
Our repertory for this concert includes many exuberant pieces, including new settings of the charming Huron Carol and the Spanish carol Riu, Riu, Chiu. The more contemplative pieces include settings of texts by Harold Thurman, I Will Light Candles and the Work of Christmas, and December Lights, with text by May Sarton.
From another era, Gloria in altissimis Deo, by Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, a Milanese nun (1602–c. 1677), tells the story of the birth of Jesus using the voices of the shepherds and angels.
Not forgetting the candles of Chanukah, Eight Days of Lights is a stunning reminder of the joy of the month. And Ensemble favorite Joan Szymco contributes a rollicking version of Red and Green to add a Celtic flair the concert.
