In honor of its 30th Anniversary Season, the Santa Fe Women’s Ensemble proudly presents its fourth CD, A Celebration of Song. Featuring favorites from recent Christmas and Spring Offering concerts, it includes pieces performed in Tuscany and Umbria during the 2008 tour of Italy. With music spanning many centuries and styles, from contemporary and commissioned works to folk songs and carols, this CD will be a delightful addition to everyone’s choral library.

Music Is Our Joy

Music Is Our Joy celebrates the Ensemble’s 25th anniversary and offers the best-loved pieces from its previous three seasons. Recorded in historic Loretto Chapel and the Santuario de Guadalupe, Christmas favorites include Palestrina’s Hodie Christus Natus Est; Jakob Handl’s O magnum mysterium; Katherine Dienes’ Magnificat; and French, Polish and Czech carols. Spring favorites include Daniel Gawthrop’s There Is Sweet Music, Baloo Baleerie arranged by Stuart McIntosh, and many more musical treasures.

Glad Tidings, the Ensemble’s second CD, is a stunning collection of music recorded in Loretto Chapel. It includes Britten’s Ceremony of Carols; Michael Mauldin’s Christmas cantata With This Child; Peter Williams’ In the Bleak Mid-Winter; There Is No Rose, arranged by Z. Randall Stroope; and many more of the group’s favorites, ancient and modern, spanning 12 centuries.
